Shadows

The black and white image is a classic in photography. But Sepia is also common now a days. For me, if you talk about black and white images, I picture shadows and those sorts of things. Shadows are very helpful in getting wonderful pictures. It depends on what your object is. you also have to think where the lights should be placed. common pictures are basketballs, volleyballs, soccer ball, and all sorts of balls. They give extraordinary to plain and boring.

The image in your left is an example of how shadows make photo more real and amazing. The net of the tennis court is also visible. The light is coming from the north-east. you can put the light in any angle you like.

Remember this:

The closer the light is to your object the smaller the shadow it will create. if you distance it then you will produce a wider shadow. Take a look at the image above. We can tell that the light is far from the object.

This image[left] tells us that the object being hit by the light is opaque because it creates shadows. Whatever the shape of the object is also the shape of the shadow but with no details and only plain black or gray.

If an object is translucent it will give less shadows and if the translucent object is colored like red, yellow, pink, blue, orange, etc., the light will also be the same. For our example, the color of the translucent lamps are white so the light is also white.

To give your picture a very good effect, always remember to put shadows for the best details. Lights are always important in the field of photography. I may not be a professional but I understand perfectly some of its main points and effects. From my photography, I took a picture of my classmate.

The brightness of the light really suits the drama in this picture. I made the background in the streets to make it more natural and realistic. The long street made emphasis for the drama. The main story behind this is that the model feels so alone and very emotional. This is purposely done for an EMOtional effect. The shadows brought the best for this picture.

Simplicity

It's best if you make your work simple and elegant. Everything around you could be your object or model in your photography. It's even better if you leave it as it is. Don't move it or put extra props. Simplicity is beauty. Don't forget to be at the position for the best angle.

As you can see above, I took a picture from the over view. The restaurant where this image was taken arranged flowers and put it inside a big bowl then added water to put a floating effect. I did not move a single thing because it naturally looks beautiful and if I move or add something, maybe it would not be as beautiful as it is now. It was placed over a flat log so what else could I do to make it more beautiful? It's simple, natural & beautiful. Don't over do yourself. Be artistic and of coarse, original.
